WATER BARRICADES

Water Barriers/Barricades are generally safer for pedestrians, and construction workers who are in a construction zone, and in the event of a crash, plastic water filled barriers are safer for the motorist on impact, than traditional concrete barriers. Additionally these products can be used in many applications, some examples are: airport use, crowd control, facility, road and construction protection. Provides many safety benefits: * Due to their high visibility and heavy, imposing nature, drivers shy away from plastic longitudinal channelizers more than cones, drums or folding barricades, which results in greater driver, pedestrian and worker safety. * Widely-spaced folding barricades, drums and cones are often confusing, LCB's provide better visual delineation by forming a wall. * Drivers cannot purposely or accidentally shortcut through construction zones, unlike cones or barrels, because channelizers form a protective wall. * Folding barricades, vertical panels and cones are easily knocked over by traffic or weather, whereas water-fillable barricades are quite heavy and not easily moved when properly ballasted. BARRIERS OR LCBs The term "Barrier" and "Barricade" are often used interchangeably, but understanding the difference is critical. Most roadway work zone engineering specifications call for either Barriers for positive protection or Longitudinal Channelizing Barricades (LCBs) for visual channelization, when used on federally-funded job sites. Barricades that are not LCB's are not acceptable when LCB's are specified. Contractors who mistakenly use non-LCB devices are putting themselves in jeopardy, in the event that someone is injured. MB350 The MB350 barrier meets NCHRP-350 crash testing requirements and is accepted by the FHWA as a temporary barrier system when used with the crash kit. (Test Level 3).
